Elon Musk Plans to Launch AI Start-Up to Compete with OpenAI, Maker of ChatGPT and Tech Giants

Although Musk resigned from the board of OpenAI in 2018, his involvement in the launch of a new AI start-up will position him alongside other prominent technology leaders such as Google and Microsoft, who are striving to develop cutting-edge AI technology.

According to reports from the Financial Times, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk is said to be working on a new startup in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This development comes after Musk's departure from OpenAI's board in 2018, the popular generative AI company he co-founded in 2015. The new startup is expected to compete with OpenAI and put Musk in the same league as tech giants such as Google and Microsoft, who are also developing next-gen AI.

The report indicates that Musk is building a team of AI researchers and engineers, and is in talks with existing SpaceX and Tesla investors for potential investments in the new venture. According to a source cited in the report, "a bunch of people are investing in it... it's real and they are excited about it."

Recently, Musk tweeted about his plans to use AI to detect and highlight public opinion manipulation on social media platforms. He also made a quip about the "psy ops cat" and what it might bring in the future. It remains to be seen how Musk's new AI startup will fare against OpenAI and other competitors in the field.
